Making Learning Move
Every lesson should have a rhythm — a natural flow that carries children from curiosity to understanding. Lesson Flow helps teachers design learning that moves with the child’s energy and attention, rather than against it.
FOCUS — Whole-Body Ready
-
Wriggle out the squiggles!
-
Movement and rhythm activate thinking and prepare the whole child for learning.
-
Grounded in what learners already know.
-
This short, energising start helps children settle, self-regulate, and get ready for what lies ahead.
-
⏰ Timing: 7–10 minutes
LEARN — Collaborate & Create
-
This is the heart of teaching and learning.
-
The teacher becomes the guide on the side and the meddler in the middle.
-
Learners explore ideas together, problem-solve in peer groups, and make meaning through discovery.
-
It is also where small focus groups come alive.
-
This gives the teacher a chance to connect and differentiate learning.
-
⏰ Timing: 15–20 minutes
OPEN — Question & Explore
-
Learners investigate, test, and connect concepts across subjects.
-
Bring PRIME Maths and Story THREAD to life through projects, enquiry, and expressive learning.
-
⏰ Timing: 15–20 minutes, however, this phase is flexible.
-
Once a project or question has been “opened,” learners can continue exploring at other times of the day.
WRAP — Reboot, Recalibrate & Re-energise
-
Look back: Reflect on the lesson’s beginning — what did we do in our focus zone?
-
Celebrate: Share “what stuck” and acknowledge small wins.
-
Build on it: Add new lines, actions, or ideas to songs, stories, or activities already learned.
-
Reset: Calm the body, clear the mind, and prepare for the next activity, lesson, or break.
-
Quick & Powerful: A focused 5-minute close that leaves children ready, settled, and energised.
-
⏰ Timing: Quickfire 5 min
